Oh, and by the way, I am not a Pollyanna, but occasionally I feel the need to speak the truth. I don't always believe myself but I do think maybe, well probably, there is some merit to these thoughts.
Happy New Year might imply that the previous year was not happy. It occurs to me that perhaps we should be looking at all the years and reflecting that in fact every year is exactly the way it was meant to be. How we choose to reflect on the past and concern ourselves about the future is after all NOTHING. All we have is NOW. So my wish for you and for me would be that we all have a happy NOW year, in the past and in the future, and more importantly NOW.

And so at this time I greet you,
Not quite as the world sends greetings, but with profound esteem and with the prayer that for you now and forever, the day breaks, and the shadows flee away. FRA. Giovanni, 1513 Holiday Greetings
Handmade gift idea I've been putting together these little origami MASU boxes to hold candy. Masu is a traditional Japanese wooden box originally used to hold rice, dating to almost a hundred years ago. I am gifting these origami Masu boxes this holiday season. People love hand made gifts... I hope. What does one do with the sentimental toys, dolls and memorabilia from your childhood, not to mention your mothers childhood and even your grandparents childhoods . I decided to create a shadowbox of memorabilia, a simple way to keep things together, The end result is a very attractive box filled with memories that will withstand the test of time, protecting those valuable memories and artifacts. Display the box proudly in your home.
Back in the day when I was a kid which wasn't so long ago. I wanted to be a fashion designer. I used to draw my own paper dolls, give them names, personalities and lifestyles. I would design clothing for them, spending hours and hours in what I considered to be serious hard work in the fashion business. My Father determined this was not acceptable. I was consequently forbidden to play with paper dolls as he put it. My grandmother and I developed a plan where I would still design fashion for my models,But in a more clandestine manner. Eventually I grew up, THANK GOD!
Today I play with live flesh & bone models. Styling for JOSS Boutique in Woodmere, creating fashion shows, consulting with clients. No one can forbid me again, When your client calls early one morning to tell you the chandelier fell and crushed the table ! I would like to think I said holy cow !!!!! But I digress, I actually was very shocked, you can imagine. We immediately began the process of figuring out what to do first, second, third and even fourth. The good news is it's all being resolved and soon the table will be replaced and/or restored the chandelier will be replaced and it's just another day...
Please enjoy a conversation I had with Dianne. ![]() My first apartment in Cleveland was at 13450 Cedar Rd. The building was absolutely beautiful, at that time. I was very happy living there, Lovely apartment in a beautiful old building, brass details, carpet in halls, elegant plaster work etc. NOT so much anymore !! About three years ago I looked into the possibility of buying the building, went to the city of Cleveland Heights to see if I could get any kind of help to restore the building to its original character. The city apparently has no programs available. The once beautiful building had been allowed to deteriorate to such a degree that it was truly a filthy, dirty, unsightly, insult to the city of Cleveland Heights. How is this possible? The city apparently doesn't have the ability to enforce code. Fortunately the property went into foreclosure. But!!! One day while driving in Cleveland Heights I noticed activity about the building and I looked into it. Detective that I am, I found that two guys in New York had purchased the building and were restoring it. I made it my business to go right in that building, and find out what was going on. As luck would have it the building is being restored in the manner in which it was originally supposed to be. I found the two guys in New York and chatted with them about their project, i am eager to share with everyone the progress that's being made on this wonderful, old building. The restoration is very specific, new windows, entrance, refinishing floors, new kitchen cabinetry, appliances, carpeting, beautiful details being restored, brass polished, lighting, artwork. posting pics of before |
